Lettres Philosophiques (Folio)

This is viewed by many as one of the most important pieces of propaganda literature leading up to the French Revolution. Here, Voltaire questions existing dogma of the ancien regime, under the guise of a humble visitor to France. The book gives a modern-day reader an insight into the underlying tensions in 18th century Europe, and would be an interesting read for a French student. The level of French is relatively easy to follow and Voltaire's use of irony and cutting wit throughout the letters is hilarious.
