Personal Translator 2008 Home English - French

Not really what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to scan any official letters received and then translate to English. Maybe it is me not knowing how to do it.

What I like about this product is its ease to use-the translations are just a mouse click away. A nice, simple, easy to operate program.
Although the translation quality is not perfect, it is easy to understand the softwares translations.
The software is great for use when translating from French internet websites but when it encounters complex sentances, there are a few problems, but that is no different from a student who is learning more complex language skills.

Chat texts can be poorly translated,but that is mostly due to special abbreviations and maybe typos. "Normal" texts such as news articles or product descriptions are, in my opinion translated quite well.

This is really disappointing! My French is adequate but I decided to purchase this to ensure that I did not make any errors when reading correspondence from French utility companies etc. I found that the translation is poor even simple phrases were not translated into fluent English but translated word by word not recognising the phrases.

I attempted to connect to a French website for information on the telepeage system - I managed to bring up part of the website through the Personal Translator but could not access the whole site - other people have also tried on my behalf as I am very much a novice computer user.

I would not recommend this version of the Personal Translator - possibly those designed for other than home use are better.
