Best of the Pepino series; actually solves the crime by skill this time
~ Written on May 18, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

Probably the best of the series, since Pepino's actually semi-intelligent in it and solves it through a bit of skill. The others in the series are just a lot more corny and predictable. Very reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau from Pink Panther; incredibly arrogant while often bumbling his way to the answer, along with his sidekick Panzon who likes to eat all the time. Great way to learn and practice Spanish!

This was actually pretty funny

Contrary from what I have seen in other reviews, this book is decent. I found it not laugh-out-loud, rolling-on-the-floor funny, but still pretty funny. I too am in Spanish 3 and am in High School, yet I didn't find this book too difficult to read; I managed to enjoy the book. It seems to me that the reviewer who wasn't able to understand a "comic mystery for intermediate students" might not in fact be an intermediate student.

Not wild about it, but it is a decent book

I am a high school student and I read La Casa Embrujada as an extra credit assignment. The humor may be a little dry, but all around this is a nice book for high school students to read. In my spanish 3 class we are assigned to read Marianela, and let me tell you this book is sooooo much better (and easier to understand) than Marianela. I have read the preceeding book to La Casa Embrujada, entitled El Secuestrador. I enjoyed reading that book as well. I would reccomend this book to all spanish students that enjoy reading spanish literature.

Cool spanish book

La casa embrujada is the coolest and best spanish book I ever read. It rules!!! The characters are funny and the book is hilarious. The book is very comical, awesome, and educational. I would recommend it to any spanish-book reader. Panzon and Pepino are classic. You would be a fool not to read this neat book.

This Book isn't worth the pages its printed on.

The book is terrible. The translation is too hard for high school students to comprehend. The plot is decent but the comic relief is not very funny at all. Find another book for your spanish class because this one is one of the worst iv'e seen.
