ABOUT THIS BOOK

USER REVIEWS

Horrible for reading comprehension; good CD's
~ Written on May 25, 2008. out of 1 users found this review helpful.

This book is organized so poorly that focussing on problem areas is nearly impossible. The reading comprehension sections are horribly confusing and offer almost no practice. Furthermore, the explanations of the reading portions of the exam are page-filling, techno-babble nonsense.

On the other hand, the CD's are good for simulating test conditions.

Tough decision?

There has to be a better book.

Very good CD set.But I bought not only CD
~ Written on Sep 13, 2007. 1 out of 1 users found this review helpful.

I have read several books preparing to the TOEFL IBT test.So comparing this one to the others such as Longman, 30days to TOEFL CBT, Educational KIT by ETS,Cracking the TOEFL IBT, I admit that the CD set which is going along with the book is excellent.Although, I have to note that the book itself didn't impress me very much.It was not as good as I expected it to.
Perhapas, it happened because I had installed the CD software and had taken some tests which were there before I opened the book itself.
Then I started to read the book.It seemed to me much easier than I expected it to be on the base of the Tests which the CD set provided.
So, totaly I'd rate the book 3.5.That's because the tests and listening part on the CDs which accompanied the book were great.
However, if I had to rate only the book I'd rate it 3.

Very good book

The Kaplan TOEFL iBT helped me to score high in the TOEFL exam. The book has 8 chapter, each one with 50 pages on average, and 4 mock tests in an extra CD-ROM. I believe that if you work hard on this book for 2/3 weeks, you'll have a great chance of suceeding the exam.

The book gives you a detailed information about what to expect on the test day and you can notice your improvements as you go through the 8 chapters.

I highly recommend this book.

THIS IS THE POOREST MATERIAL FOR THE PREPARATION FOR THE iBT TOEFL EXAM,
SORRY. WE HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS STUDYING FOR IT AND I FEEL THAT THE CAMBRIDGE AND BARRON'S ARE MUCH BETTER. I ORDERED KAPLAN'S BECAUSE I WANTED TO COMPARE IT TO THE OTHERS, THANKS, LIZ.

good

The product overall is not bad.
i only like the CD-rom practices.
it is really harder than the actual test..
the practice given in book are basic..
it teaches us from the very basic about every section.
i think it is very good for those who are going to take the test for the first time.
for the re-taker i think only the CD-rom serves as a very good practices.
