This product works very well for me. I like the fact that I learn how to pronounce the words correctly by listening to the native speakers. No complaints so far!

I haven't gone through the whole thing yet, but since I bought it I have already added many many Spanish words to my vocabulary. I'm pleased with it so far!

Learning another language
~ Written on Oct 7, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

I really didn't realize how hard it would be to learn a 2nd language.
I am a visual person also so learning just by listening makes it a little harder for me. I'm still working on it though. I don't think I will speak fluent Spanish in my lifetime with this set but I am learning some basic Spanish communication skills, which is about all I need.

truly a full language course

I'm only on disk 2 but so far I think this set is terrific. I wanted to be able to learn in my car since it's a nice way to spend my commute and also I never seem to want to sit down and look at a book when I am home, but I also I really wanted to learn to speak, not just pick up a few phrases for traveling. Disk 1 covers a fair amount of basics and seemed like the disk you would listen to just for traveling - covers hotels, restaurants, numbers, that sorta stuff. Disk 2 gets into nouns, adjectives, etc., more of the details. I feel like I've learned a decent amount already and there are 9 disks total, each with 15 lessons. The only thing I would say is that before I started these CD's I starting taking some semi-private spanish lessons so I had gone over some very basic things and had seen them written. So I think it would help to review the little book they include for the first couple lessons just to see how things are written and pronounced because sometimes it's hard to visualize how a word is spelled (I find it hard to distinguish b's from v's, etc.). Also, so far at least, the CD's require a lot of memorization...a lot of the lessons involve learning the word for whatever in spanish and repeating it...so it is definitely a lot to memorize. I'm hoping that in the later disks they will use phrases more. Overall though I'm really enjoying these CD's and I still think they were the right choice for learning in your car.
