Speak in a Week!: See, Hear, Say & Learn Spanish: 4 week Set (Spanish Edition)

I purchased this series of books about a year and a half ago. I must say that i am very pleased with them. You won't become a fluent speaker of any laguage in my opinion just by reading and studying books. In my opinion you have to immerse yourself in a culture that speaks the language that you are trying to learn. But that is where these books come into play, to learn the basics of spanish and thereby giving you the tools that you need to start communicating. It gave me all that i needed to get started for a great price of under $30. I just returned from a 5 month stay in the Dominican Republic, and the local people in the rural village where i stayed were amazed at the speed to which i was able to gain a firm grasp of spanish. It was very very difficult, especially at first. But i wouldn't have had a chance if I wouldn't have purchased these books and studied them faithfully for 6-8 months prior. Though i'm not totally fluent yet, i speak spanish at a very high level, and go about my day to day duties conversating with people who only speak spanish. And i credit my speak in a week books for giving me the basic foundation and building blocks to get started.

This product is designed as a 4-week program, with one set of instructions (including book and audio CD) for each week. I don't have any complaints about the product really, but I am completely annoyed that they sent me a "week 3" CD in the week 4 CD case. I now have two identical CDs for week 3 and none for week 4, and of course discovered this after Amazon's refund window expired.
If you order it, I recommend you inspect it thoroughly upon arrival to make sure you get what you paid for.

I have tried some other products to help me speak Spanish. This one is the best by far. The way it is put together with the man giving the English and the woman saying it in Spanish twice with me having time to say it too really helps. The book that comes with it shows the English and Spanish and gives you lots of tips. It was reccommended to me by a friend and I am reccommending it to my friends.

my 4th grade and 2nd grade girls love it. CD with the books for one sentence in English, one in Spanish. Very easy to follow.

I am rather surprised at the 5 star ratings this package has received and with many trite and rave reviews. This is a good package but has flaws that make it frustrating to use at times. May be a better program to use if you have a lot of free time on your hands or if you put aside an hour a day to focus study.

The flash card/flip card concept is great, yet it also has a limitation or two. The CD is clear in sound, yet a bit fast if you are driving and have no ability to back the CD up. Then you have to start from the beginning of the section. It would be nice to have an introduction as well, something more to read like concepts to keep in mind.

You get right into a conversation with someone, helpful, but limited in a way. The CD on my CD Rom on my computer jumped from section to section without me knowing where it was going. That was frustrating.

I would rate this a five if it fixed the above flaws, yet, it is a good tool overall in your Spanish Learning bookshelf.
