Test Words You Should Know: 1,000 Essential Words for the New SAT and Other Standardized Texts

I teach in a maximum security prison and have started a very low-tech library with donated books. I brought "Test Words..," into my classroom and found that many of my students were almost instantly enthralled with the idea of learning new words. Now there's a daily "Word of the Day" on the board, and the students work very hard to use the word at least 3 times during the class period. Many of these men are struggling to better themselves and this book seems to have opened a new window for their worlds. Words are fun, and my guys prove it to me every day!
