The Way to Wealth

Brian Tracy's book, the first of the `Way To Wealth' series, integrate material on goals, attitude, management, and sales into an overall course on entrepreneurship.

`The Way to Wealth Part I - The Journey Begins' provides the basics to set up your own business, emphasizing attitudes and skills.

The book ends with a useful summary, which in many ways recaps much of Brian's Tracy's past work.

This book presents an entire detailed course in developing both the millionaire mindset and entrepreneurial behaviour patterns.

It represents for me a new level of omprehensivness and insight in Tracy's work, because it deals with the overall entrepreneurial process rather than simply sales or goals or attitudes, subjects he already dealt with in separate books at length.

It should come as no surprise that you are never going to get rich by collecting a salary from someone else. The only realy way to make a fortune, small or large is by starting your own company and growing it. You may want to start the company and run it, you may start it with the intent of taking it public, you may start it with the idea of selling it to some other company. It doesn't really matter.

In this book Mr. Tracy talks about what is needed to set up a viable company. It begins with the first step of selecting a product or service, and the next few years are going to see more such opportunities than have ever existed before. Just think of the problems and opportunities: global warming, software is still growing, the opening up of the Soviet Union, turning away from an oil based economy.

From there he goes on to virtually every aspect of setting up a business. I'd only make a couple of further suggestions:

. Get a computer and learn how to use it. I'm writing this on a computer I bought used for $55. So money is no excuse.

. Buy a Business Plan Writing software package to use to prepare your business plan. It will give you hints about things you never thought of.

. Get an accounting package. Can't afford an expensive package, buy a used, earlier edition package on eBay. They don't change that much. But get a new income tax package every year because the laws do change.
