EDITORIAL REVIEW

"Girls, Gags & Giggles" - this was publisher Robert Harrison's recipe for dishing up the American pin-up to the U.S. male. In the 1950s, his girlie magazines sold by the millions, before becoming icons of pulp and trash culture. These skilfully illustrated girls with their curvaceous forms and inviting lingerie soon overtook America's national dessert, in terms of popularity, and even developed considerable potential as a cultural export during the 1940s. 'Never show everything,' was always the motto. Smiling prettily at the camera, the models exuded just the right amount of sex appeal without seeming too sophisticated or artful. They were the 'girls next door' whose wholesome attraction soon made one forget the magazines' deliberately trashy presentation. Their rosy complexions and innocent allures still titillate even in an age when far more graphic material is the norm. This is for everyone who enjoys pin-ups, push-ups and pulp style!

Fantastic artwork!

This book is exactly what you would expect. 1000 pin-ups of many different styles. They are classy yet seductive, and sexy yet sophisticated. This was a very nice addition to the coffee table.

OK

I expected to use the graphics in this book for a project, but the graphics were cropped too much to scan them and tweak them... but the collection of pictures was just great. Lots of images i've not seen, which is always exciting! All in all, a good purchase.

Perfect Little Collection of Pin-Ups

I was wanting to start a library with different pin-up collections and this was the perfect one to start with. It's a small book but has plenty of eye candy. Would buy this for friends researching or interested in Pin-ups.

Good drawings by Peter Dreben

Lot's of pictures and good drawings by Peter Dreben. The book is quite thick for a small size so it's difficult to keep it open without holding it's pages apart. My particular interest is on the drawings but the photos show an eroticism from a time long gone... Good fun. The whole is worth the relatively little price you pay for it.
