Shows how beautiful and peaceful Italy is. Beautiful beaches, not for swimming but for looking out and just relaxing, getting inspired. The place is poetic.

The story has depth. When I'm studying and practicing my Italian, I will definitely be watching this over and over to study the language.

One of the most Beautiful movies ever made.

One can't help but fall in love (regardless of gender) with the Postman. This movie is touching from the first second all the way till the last. Even to those who have no idea who Pablo Neruda is this is a film that anyone can enjoy or relate to.

There is something that would have been absolutely lost in translation had this movie been dubbed. To anyone watching it with subtitles you get all the emotional context that makes it great. If you happen to know Italian you are certainly in for a treat.

If you see no other classic film this year (or lifetime) I can suggest with no reserve that you watch this one.

Life is beautiful!

As you watch the movie, you will be rooting for the shy, fumbling, barely literate postman who is in love, but needs coaching and gets it from an unlikely source, a temporary resident: Pablo Neruda. This is a movie full of warmth, humour and sadness. It held my attention till the end. It's very much worth your time to listen to the director's commentary as well. I don't think it needs to be slotted as a "foreign" film - anyway it is not directed by an Italian. It could have been set almost anywhere, but as it happens, the setting is beautiful and it shows.

wonderful film-don't miss

If you're a fan of quality foreign films, make sure you see Il Postino.
I hadn't seen it until recently, and it was just wonderful. Since then,
I've talked to a number of friends who have it on their favorites list.
One sweet, delightful, sad, well-done story on film.
