straightforward story about a man who longs to hang on to tradition and wants his daughter to stay in his life, but his daughters show him they are their own persons...all of the women in the movie played their roles well...i liked raquel welch and she did a good job here...i won't give away the plot twist that happens at the end of the movie...but i'll say i definately didn't see it coming....hector elizondo has always been an underrated actor and he doesn't dissapoint...the scenes that show him cooking makes you want to learn mexican recipies....

a lovely feast of a movie, great food scenes, great music

This is just a plain old lovely movie. Nicely acted, incredible food scenes (eat first!), and lush music. Perfect for a movie when you want to relax and retire afterward with a smile.

Young educated Latino women

The world is an hard place for people who grew up in east LA?
Caught between cultures with a father who makes every meal
an artistic master piece, the lives of these three daughters
go better than many others in our culture.
The Spanish-Latino culture old maids are those
who never found their Don Juan.
