For past's "would like", if it's not backshifted, does it have to be the same "would like"? The direct speech might have been like this.
- Kate asked me "Would you like your chocolate ice cream in a cup or cone?"
Or does it have to be "Kate asked me whether I wanted my chocolate..."
ex) Kate asked me whether I would like my chocolate ice cream in a cup or cone.
Kate asked me whether I would like my chocolate ice cream in a cup or cone.
That's fine.

As much as I know, there is no simple past form for "would like", as there is, for example, for "want".(I want my chocolate...
I wanted my chocolate... // I would like my chocolate...
???
"I would have liked" would be the equivalent to "I would have wanted.")
