    Default Writing in English.

    Hello.
    I need some help.
Thing is, I have written a book in English (fiction), but I want to make sure i got the idiom right, before I submit it to agents. I`m fairly certain the grammar is good, but I`m obsessed that "it doesn`t sound American".
Is there any way I can check the idiom and put my worries to rest?
    thank you for your time.

It sounds as though you need a proofreader. This is someone who will check the entire manuscript for errors. This is a fairly complex task and is not limited to checking idioms only. Idioms do have to be checked for accuracy. In addition, idioms have to be checked to see if they are correct for the time period of the book - you can't have a character saying, "23 Skidoo", if the book is set in 1816. How long is your book?

I think this is something you should have probably considered before you wrote the book. In other words, asking yourself if you were or are qualified to write a book in the style required would have been advisable. As things stand, however, the above poster has good advice. Seek advice from a proofreader, or at the very least find an American person to read some of the important parts for you.
