English literature - "Hope" story.

Dear teachers,

I had to summarise a story called Hope( English literature) written by John Galsworthy(1867-1933). I did it already, however, I got low mark for many reasons (my teacher's remarks). Could you kindly advice us how to write a good summary in English. By the way, could you summarise this story for me so that I can improve my skill in writting and also compare the two summaries to find out my shortcomings making good effort in future.
