Default BF in Keep the Aspidistra Flying

Hello! In reading Geoge Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying, I came across this paragraph:
"You think I'm a BF, of course," he remarked to the ceiling.
"No, I don't. Why should I?"
"Yes, you do. You think I'm a BF to stay in this filthy place instead of getting a proper job...
I have looked up "BF" in the dictionary and found several definitions for it (boldface, black female, boyfriend...) but none of them seems appropriate in this context. Could somebody please tell me what it means?
