Quite a few towns are now banning cars from their shopping centres.

Longman dictionary
It's about the prohibition against selling cars? Or something else?
Thank you

I am not a teacher.

I imagine it's about keeping the shopping centres reserved for pedestrians.

Could you please explain more in detail? I still don't understand what shopping centres have to do with cars. Does it refer to parking lots belonging to shopping centres?
"Cars are not allowed in shopping centers" - what does that mean...
"shopping centres reserved for pedestrians" - I don't understand it either. It's like car driver discrimination?

Same here.

"Cars are not allowed in shopping centers" means to me that I can drive my car at a shopping center. If I imagine it, it's quite strange. :-o
Probably, it's about parking.

Nor here. A "shopping centre" is usually a large single building with several floors and escalators.
But in this context, it's easily understandable not to mean that.

I'd call those pictures town centres rather than shopping centres.
