Which is correct:

1-I eat to lose weight.

2-I eat in a way to make me lose weight.
3-I eat in such a way to me lose weight.
4-I eat in such a way so as to make me lose weight.

I don't like 1. It would be logical to say: I run to lose weight. But obviously, if I did not want to lose weight, I would not run. But would I stop eating if I did not want to lose weight? I have to eat anyway and I eat in order not to die of hunger. I don't eat in order to lose weight. What will make me lose weight is my choice of foods.

Gratefully,
Navi.

3 is wrong IMO. 1 may not be very logical, but there's nothing wrong with it grammatically.

Would 3 be right if 'me' was omitted? Would 1 be logical if 'eat' was replaced with 'fast'?

You could use I eat in such a way as to lose weight. It's not very natural, though.

The problem with 3 is that "in such a way" is just unnatural in this context. "The way you eat" is, for example, quickly or greedily or with chopsticks.

You could replace "eat" with "fast". It would be grammatically correct but it wouldn't be entirely biologically correct (if that's what you meant by "logical"). Fasting doesn't help you lose weight long term, only in the very short term. The weight loss is mostly water loss.

Is it natural and logical to say 'I eat on such a diet as to lose weight'?

Not a teacher.

Better to say: I diet to lose weight.

Diet - eat in a regulated fashion

not a teacher

No. We don't use "I eat on ..." in this way at all.

I'm on a diet would do the job much more effectively.

I am not a teacher.

There are people who believe in negative-calorie foods, that is to say, food that requires more energy to digest than it provides, (even though this has never been demonstrated scientifically).

I think believers in this could say, 'I eat to lose weight'.
