[Vocabulary] in chronological order

Hi,

In a job application form, I am told to "please list in chronological order".

Which list is in chronological order?

list 1:
2009-2008: Manager, ABC Co. Ltd.
2008-2007: Assistant, JKL Co. Ltd.
2007-2006: Clerk, XYZ Co. Ltd.

list 2:
2007-2006: Clerk, XYZ Co. Ltd.
2008-2007: Assistant, JKL Co. Ltd.
2009-2008: Manager, ABC Co. Ltd.

List 2 is in chronological order, list 1 in reverse chronological order.

Usually on resumes and job applications the most recent (or your current) job is listed first. So that is what I would do.

Neither list is in chronological order. If you follow SoothingDave's suggestion, which is how I would do it, it would read as follows:
Dec.2009-present date: Clerk, XYZ Sales Co.
Feb.2006-Nov. 2009: Clerk, ABC Realty
Jan.2002-Dec.2005: Office Aide, ASDS Coonstruction

I didn't notice the way you had the years within each row.

Never list the later year first in a row. Whether you start with the job in 2006 or the one in 2009, it would still be 2006-2007, never 2007-2006.*

*Unless you're talking BC, but that still starts with the older year.
