Here are two sentences from a dictionary:
1. I am absolutely ignorant about what's happened to him later.
2. I was ignorant of the terms used in business.
Do the prepositions about and of interchangeable in these sentences and maybe in other contexts?

Sentence 1. is not good. Is this sentence really from a dictionary?

Sentence 2. is good, and of is the best word to use (not about).

To reiterate what I've advised you in the past: different prepositions have different uses. In some sentences two prepositions may be interchangeable but if you do change the word, then you essentially change the meaning of the sentence. You should focus on examples where the meaning is clear.

northpath, please name the dictionary you quoted from.

Can you give us the link to the dictionary from which 1 came, northpath?
I believe "what's" should be "what".

PS: Crossed with above.

I think later should be "lately". The sentence works with that correction.

Ask Are the prepositions "about" and "of" interchangeable in these sentences and maybe in other contexts?

They function similarly, however for a finer differentiation, I'd say:
Ignorant of = No knowledge of a thing.
Ignorant about = Lacking in areas of knowledge about a thing.

Initially, both sentences were from a good dictionary but I modified a bit the first one. I'm sorry.

... and try not to say you got it from a dictionary if you know you've changed it. But I think you've learnt that now.
