“J” stands for “Jack” or “Joker”

In playing cards, I know the “K” stands for “king”, the “Q” stands for “queen”. I wonder if the “J” stands for “Jack” or “Joker”.
 
Joker does not come into play in most card games. Jack is more common.
 
Yes – 'J' stands for 'Jack'.

You'll also see the Jack of a card suit called the 'Knave' in some contexts*, but not, I think, when playing any card games.

*For example, he features in the English nursery rhyme 'The Queen of Hearts':

'The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts,
All on a summer's day;
The Knave of Hearts
He stole those tarts,
And took them clean away.'
