If you are found to have plagiarized, you will be given 0 mark/marks?

Thanks

'0' is plural.

Not a teacher.

0 has been deemed to be plural. So use marks.

Or use something like your score/mark will be zero.

How about 'you will get no mark'?

Not a teacher.

No, Matthew.

'You will get no marks.'

I think you will get a mark, and that mark will be zero. This is obviously based on two closely-related meanings of 'mark'.

That suggests that the teacher isn't going to bother marking it at all. However, the teacher clearly does plan to read and give marks (if any) to the student. In this case, the number of marks the student will get is zero.

In the following, the teacher will actually not read and mark it. Is the singular 'mark' acceptable?
'You will get no mark if you don't hand in it by the deadline.'
