I should point out that 'wither' isn't a homophone of 'weather' or 'whether'. Although, I understand these words may be confused.

----------

For those who know IPA symbols:

'Wither' - /ˈwɪð.ər/

'Whether/weather' - /ˈwɛð.ər/ (or /ˈweð.ər/ depending on which symbols you use.)

Also, you may hear some people contrast 'weather' and 'whether' by 'aspirating' the /w/ sound thus:

'Whether' - /ˈʍɛð
thinsp.png
ər/ or (/ˈʰwɛð
thinsp.png
ər/ depending on which symbols you use (again, the /ɛ/ may be /e/ to you)).

Should you point it out? Why?
Linguist has already pointed it out. 'Wither' is pronounced in a way different from the way 'weather'/'whether' are pronounced.

Don't forget "Whither."

Whither will they go? Not used much now, but part of this family.

ABDALLA ALI - can you hear the difference between "pet" and "pit"? That's the difference between weather/whether and wither/whither.
