Hi,

I want to say:
When I studied at ABC University, I was selected to mark exam papers.
When I studied at ABC University, I used SPSS to complete some assignments.

If I write the sentence as:
During my time as a student at ABC University, I was selected to mark exam papers.
During my time as a student at ABC University, I used SPSS to complete some assignments.

Will this mislead people to think:
Throughout my time as a student at ABC University, I was selected to mark exam papers.
Throughout my time as a student at ABC University, I used SPSS to complete some assignments.

???

Thanks

If you want to be absolutely sure that people won't think that you marked exam papers and used SPSS all the time you were there, you could use:

While I was a student at ABC university, I was occasionally/regularly selected to mark exam papers.

However, if you did say "During my time as..." I don't think people would necessarily misunderstand.

With your other example, I think the fact that you have chosen to say "to complete some assignments" shows that this didn't happen all the time (or throughout your time).

They're not the same:
throughout = all the time I was there
during = at some point

During + selected does not imply the entire time to me.
