Which one is correct?

All credits go to mama? OR

Thinking that All credits are many I thought of using go. But goes sounds correct too. I am confuse.
Please help!

Not a teacher.

The usual phrasing is that "all credit goes to..."

But we are saying all credit - that means many not one then why do we say goes?
looks like some error in the phrase.
Or if it has some logical answer, please tell me. Highly appreciated!

Hello, Ihop.

(1) I think that "all" can be singular OR plural.

(2) I think that "all credit" is a short way

to say "All OF THE credit."

(i) So: All of the credit (singular) GOES to MAMA.

(3) I think that "all students" is a short way to say "All OF THE students."

(i) So: All of the students (plural) GO there.

***** Thank you *****

Parser,

Thanks a ton!

I got it now. Very true.

Like we say: A list of items is on the table. We never say A list of items are on the table. In the same way, All credit makes it a singular.
though I am saying here items, but it is a singular because list is one that has many items on it.

Earlier I used to say it wrong "All credits go to mama"

Hello, Ihop.

(1) Thank you for your kind note.

(2) I know that you are working very hard to learn "good"

English. So I wish to explain something.

(3) The word "list" is not really like the word "all."

(4) The word "list" is ALWAYS singular.

(5) The word "all" depends on the word after the word "of":

All of the ice cream IS delicious. ("ice cream" is singular, so we use IS)

All of the oranges ARE delicious. ("oranges" is plural, so we use ARE)

(6) If you have any more questions about this matter, please post

them. Many teachers and non-teachers are VERY happy to answer you.

***** Thank you *****

Appreciated!!! getting confidence. Thanks to all for guiding me.

Parser, you explained it nicely. I got it now.

If there is one apple, and somebody asks for it. We say, all yours.
i.e. "All of the apple is yours".

And in case of many apple we should say "All of the apples are yours".

Thank you so much:up:

Hello, Ihop.

(1) Thank you for your kind note.

(2) Yes, I think that "All of the apple is yours" is

good grammar, but I think that most native speakers would put it

this way:

The whole apple is yours.

(3) Yes, I think that "All of the apples are yours" is PERFECT.

(4) If I have given you any wrong information, some of the

language experts at this website will let you know.

(5) Please continue to ask all the questions you want.

And congratulations on doing such a nice job with those two

sentences!!!

***** Thank you *****:)
