Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
Will you tell me whether the mentioned bellow Shakspearean’s phrase is in general currency in the contemporary English?
Brutus: Let me tell you, you yourszelf
Are much ondemned to have an itching palm.
To sell and mart your office for gold
To underservers.
Casius: I an itching palm!
You know that you are Brutus that speaks this,
Or, by the gods, this speech were else your last.
I have an itching palm = I’m greedy for bribes
Thanks for your efforts.
Regard,
V
