Dear teachers,
Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
To put in bluntly, “It doesn’t to do cry stinking fish”, but as one old friend to another I don’t give a snap of the fingers for Lawrie’s opinion. He’s a pompous ass! (Cronin’s “Hatter’s Castle”, book III, chapter 6)

cry stinking fish = show oneself up

I don’t give a snap of the finger = I don’t care a damn
