take a train
take a taxi
take a subway
ride/drive a car

It's not the conditional thing. It refers to the present meaning "If I have money".

I was asking If it's possible to use it the way I suggested. I was not asking for other options.

OR

"If I'm not hard pushed for money, I ride in cabs whenever I can." This one sounds ok to me, but in AmE, hard up and hard pressed are more common. I`v never heard hard pushed.
