[Vocabulary] Device or Unit?

Hello people,

In Japan we have electronic toll collection systems (ETC) widely spread on toll roads.
My question is the name of the electoric equipment like a card slot that you install in your car in order to use the ETC system.
I'm not even sure if the system is commonly called ETC worldwide.
It would be nice to know both the names.

In the USA this system is called E-ZPass (pronounced 'easy pass'. . . get it?)

There is no ETC in the UK as we have very few toll roads.

If you google electronic toll collection you'll find plenty of information about it.

The system for the congestion charge in London uses the cars' numberplates if I remember right.

The device you mount in your car is called a "tag," at least with the EZ Pass system.

EZ Pass is not nationwide, but does cover 14 states in the east.

I've heard of EZ pass in the US. It's interesting the device is called "tag".
Also, I did a quick web search and found the system called "automatic number plate recognition" in London. I'd never even heard of that.
