Hello.

There is a sentence, "I'm fed up with my job. I'm thinking of (*) something else". and I need to put the -ing form of the verb. I placed the verb 'having' but the answers given are 'doing/trying'.

Dear teacher/native speaker, could you please comment whether my answer fits here or not?

Dear teacher/native speaker, I would be grateful if you would correct the grammar in my post.

Thanks, Alex.

Not a teacher only a native.

'Having' would not fit in your example, it does not sound right at all, perhaps it's simply the wrong word. I'm sure a teacher could explain why 'having' doesn't fit.

Your answer does not work here. There are many possibilities, including, doing, trying finding, looking for, going for, applying for, ...but not having.

We'd probably write: ... but the answers (given) are ...

Thanks, I'll bear that in my mind.

Are these sentences correct?

'Could you please comment whether my answer fits here or not?'
'I would be grateful if you would correct the grammar in my post.'

(Here, I have marked with red those parts I am not sure about)

Thanks, Alex.

'fits' is just about possible, but I think that 'works' would be more natural.

Thanks, 5jdjon.

Can I replace 'whether' with 'if'?

Thanks, Alex.
