According to my grammar book, ex2 is an answer for a question. but doesn't ex1 work? A good grammar material told me that if a collective noun's members show the same behaviour, the verb can be singular while if they show different behaviours, the verb can be plural as in the following
Plu)The jury are divided in different opinions.
Sing)The jury is in the unanimous opinion.

ex1)All my family is an early riser.
=>Doesn't it work because of "an early riser"?
ex2)All my family are early risers.

Not a teacher:

In my opinion "all" with group nouns takes the plural form of the verb. So,:

"All my family are early risers."

Should be the right choice. Note that I've ommited the second "all".

That's right, Manny.

Rover

Then, what about "My family is an early riser"?
Do you have to say "All the jury are in the unanimous opinion." even if they are doing the same thing?

My family likes getting up early is the preferred form in AmE, I believe; it's also fine in BrE.
My family like getting up early is common in BrE.

My family is lazy works, but my family is an early riser doesn't.

You can see the family as a singular group, hence the singular verb, but you can't see it as a single person, an early riser.
