1) A pair of jeans were found.

2) A pair of jeans was found.

3) A pair of glasses is needed

4) A pair of glassed are needed.

Which are correct?
 
Tom bought a pair of jeans yesterday.

Do you think that Tom got "one thing" or "two things"?

One thing... then... do we say " A pair of jeans is on the desk"?
 
I would say, "There is a pair of jeans on the desk."
