Hi!

What does it really mean when you say "wading through the murky waters of", for example,

"wading through the murky waters of European politics"
...of household energy"
...of this legislation"
...of the same sins MLK named"
...of new celiac diagnosis"
...has been wading through the murky waters of his hard drives, filtering out some debris in the form of unused downloads"
...As a new employer, wading through the murky waters of the interviewing process can prove rather daunting"
...Both big and small businesses are wading through the murky waters of social media, trying to get a handle of how success is achieved."

and so on.

Thanks in advance!

It's a metaphor.
Make a mental picture or murky water. Then imagine yourself wading through it. Are things easy and clear?
