From a stand point of a teacher I would like to know if you were graded on spelling on a paper if you used the state abbrevation for Arkansas and Missouri as Ar. and MO. if this would be counted as misspelled?

Well, if you spelt one of them with one upper case letter and one lower case, but the other with two upper case letters, I would mark it down for inconsistency.

If you mean Ar to be Akransas, it's wrong.

AR is Arkansas.
Ark. can be Arkansas.

Ar or Ar. is wrong.

Given your original (lack of) context, I'd interpret Ar. to mean argon. If it had to be a place, I'd guess Argentina.

If I use Ar. for the state abbrevation for Arkansas and MO. for the state abbrevation is this a spelling error. What is the correct abbrevation?
