"Then force open the cat's mouth and push in the pill."
Is this a simple sentence which is a command "Then (you) force open the cat's mouth and (you) push in the pill."?

Those are both imperatives.

I'm now thinking that it's a compound sentence, and therefore a comma has to be be placed after mouth :
"Then (you) force open the cat's mouth, and (you) push in the pill."

Correct ?
