Can 'feed' be used with regard to giving medicine?

Eg, I feed my baby son medicine three times a day.

Which is of course a funny way of feeding them. "I feed them their medicine" is correct if you want to conjure the image of your opening their mouths like a horse's, and stuffing the stuff in.
