[Grammar] It is expected that

An explanation in GMAT says that "It is expected that……" is wordy. Can you tell me why?

If I say something beginning with "It is+adj+that…… ", such as "it is important that ……", is it wordy?

It might be considered wordy if it would have been just as easy to put "I/We/You/They/He/She expect(s) that ..." There might be some reason to put it in the passive though. It depends on the context. "It is important that ..." is a little different because "important" is an adjective.
