[General] About addressing someone

I have been watching Pride and Prejudice lately and there is one thing I feel confusing.
Miss Bingley address Elizabeth Bennet Miss Elizabeth. Is this right? I only knew we could call her Miss Bennet.

In days gone by, people sometimes addressed each other using a title and a first name although it was more common when addressing women and only young unmarried women. Once married, she certainly wouldn't have been referred to as "Mrs Elizabeth". I can't think of an example offhand of a man being addressed the same way.

In the 1970s, there was a soap opera on UK TV called "Crossroads". A character called "Benny" who was a handyman/gardener, always referred to the deputy manageress of the motel as "Miss Diane".

The eldest dauhter was addressed as'Miss Surname'. Younger daughters were 'Miss Forename Surname'.
