My grammar books says past tense is not compatible with "since", but if your action is not continuous until now, you can use past tense even with "since", can't you?

Not grammatically. As an American, I'd say "have you gotten" not "have you got" but the present perfect is the right tense.

If the act of receiving letters is over, don't use "since." (It's a little silly to say "from the time you first met him." One assumes that you did not receive letters before you met him.)

What about this? This is an actual article, which has a one-time past action even with "since". It doesn't have to be "has had" if the interview hasn't lasted until now.
ex)Tiger Woods had an interview since his life fell apart.

p/s Sorry, "have you got" was my typing mistake. The original is "have you gotten"

In BrE "have you got", "have you had" and "have you received" would all have been acceptable, but not "have you gotten".

I agree. I would expect to see "Tiger Woods has had/done/given [only] one interview since his life fell apart".

Along with this, if any sentence shows a past tense with "since", is it a mistake by the writer? I don't know how to explain to Korean students about this.

"He liked sci-fi movied since he was a kid." This is incorrect.
