Hi,

I need to translate in my language (Russian) the following sentence:

The Queen, it emerges, is actually very humorous, in a mordant, almost subversive way.

I find it hard to interpret the word "subversive" describing the Queen's sense of humour. I looked the word up and understand its meaning more or less, but still can't put it in words in Russian. Pehaps you could help me rephrase this word (or the part of the sentence with it) so that I could get it better?

Think of her appearance with James Bond at the opening ceremony of the Olympics- few heads of state would have done that.

I know it was funny and unexpected, but could you rephrase "in a mordant, almost subversive way"?

Have you thought about using an English-Russian dictionary? I bet that in a good one, there's a good translation that fits the context.
