When do people congratulate their mothers, grannies and sisters?

Hello.
We've had a quiestion on a language test - to name the holiday on which people in english-speaking countries congratulate their mothers, grannies and sister and give presents to them. I thought it's Mother's Day (a sister can be a mother some day if not already so you can congratulate her if you wish), but the right answer appeared to be "Women's day". I think it's wrong. Can somebody give me a second opinion? Thank you for having read to this point.

Most British people I know send cards and sometimes presents to members of their family at Christmas and on their birthdays. They also send a card and a present to their mothers on Mother's Day. That's it.

If it is "International (Working) Women's Day" celebrated on March 8 every year, mainly in Eastern Europe, the answer seems to be right.

Except that, as far as I know, most people in English-speaking countries do not give women presents on that day.

I knew there was an International Women's Day but it's not celebrated in the UK, I couldn't tell you when it is and even if I knew, it wouldn't be the kind of occasion on which I would send cards or congratulate anyone. At most, I might post something on Facebook simply saying "It's International Women's Day. Let's celebrate the fact that women finally seem to be gaining equality in many countries and support those in countries where that is not the case". I wouldn't congratulate individual women on being women!

Well, we in Russia congratulate women on being women on the 8th of March, but as far as I know in the most rest of the world that day is devoted to women's rights, not celebrations.

I suppose we could walk around and say "Bummer about that y chromosome, dude" to the men on that day, too.

In Russia we do it on February 23rd. :lol:
