"He told me that he in fact is a girl" "He said to me that he in fact is a girl"
I said " He said to me...." when I was having a conversation with my friend who is English,
and when I said "... said to me" I thought it was grammatically correct but then
she amended my words to "He told me. Say he told me."
So I go, "Ok, he told me..." But I remember Oprah winfrey saying "He said to me.." "Someone said to me..."
"When I met her she said to me..." on her show very much so I thought it was okay to say it like that.
But is it? Maybe it's an american thing?
Please help me.
