I've no idea what it means and I bet our teachers don't know as well. If you're in the English Language Learning forum, you need to write in English. :-?

P.S can I say "I've no idea what it means and I bet so do our teachers.

Read what you enjoy. Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. Spy novels, mystery novels, romances, short stories.

Just read what gives you pleasure. You'll never get the hours back if you spend time reading things you don't enjoy.

(Boris: I have no idea and I bet our teachers don't either.)

... and I have no idea why the OP is laughing.

What sort of books do you like?

I guess liyalin may have misused the avatar:lol: and smile:) can be accepted here IMO.
If in China, smile:) can be understood as a kind of politeness when asking a question or asking for help.

I see.
I personally use :-D quite often, and I understand that facial expressions play an important role in communication.
The OP should have been more careful then.

:-D

Yes! At this point, I guess Japanese are like Chinese but more polite than Chinese.
Smile is very very important in Chinese daily communication because it's an outpouring of kindness.

That's almost impossible to assess. What is considered polite is often very culture-specific. Now that I have lived in the Czech Republic for some time, I am shocked by the rudeness of some of By british and American visitors who come into my home without removing their shoes. This behavious is not inherently rude, though it is considered so in the culture in which I now live.
