Hello.:)

One of my friends works at a drinking establishment, which is called "Izakaya" in Japanese, and he asked me to translate the language they use when serving foreign customers into English.

I'd like to have my translations checked by some native speakers. Thank you.

Here are my translations:

Good evening.

Do you have a reservation?

Please put your shoes here.

Please watch your step.

Please use the hangers to hang your jacket/coat up.

I will bring you "oshibori" (a wet towel) right away.

Is this your first visit?

Here's the menu.

Would you like something to drink to start with?

Please push this button when placing an order and paying the bill.

After your meal, you can have a bowl of miso soup for free.
Please ask your server for a free miso soup.

Please note that there is a 400-yen cover charge and that we serve "O-toshi" (a small appetizer) to every customer. (The "O-toshi" is included in the cover charge.)

We offer salad as the "O-toshi".
You can get free refills.
Please ask your server for your refill.

The restroom/bathroom is over there.
Please follow me./Let me take you there.

Are you finished with that? May I take your plate(s)?

Is everything O.K?
Do you have anything else to order?

May I change your ashtray (to a new one)?

Thank you for visiting us.

How was everything?
Did you enjoy your meal(s)?

Here's the bill/check.
Please pay at the cashier over there.

Your total comes to XXXX yen.

This is a loyalty/rewards card.
3% of every purchase you make will be given back to you as loyalty points.

Each point is equivalent to 1 yen, and every time you get 1000 points, you can use them as a coupon worth 1000 yen.

Please bring the card with you the next time you visit us, and we will be happy to offer you one item from the food menu for free. (You can choose any item you would like from the menu
.)

Just two suggestions:

Please push this button when placing an order and paying the bill.
Please push this button when you wish to order food or pay the bill (or when you require service).

Do you have anything else to order?
Is there anything else you would like to order?

"Free of charge" or "on the house" are better than "for free".
