Does the word "czech" in "the Chezch Republic" sound like "check"? So it's like "check republic".:roll:
 
Yes. You misspelled "Czech" in the quoted part of your message. :)

The question is about the sound, though. And ch doesn't always give us that pronunciation- chemist, psychiatry, etc, and, even better, that old friend chthonic.
