I would call it the bed or the bed base, not the platform.

Even though it's possible to hit only one shin, the plural is normal in warnings of that sort.

That bed base is very low to the ground. An adult would be more likely to hit their ankles or stub their toe on it. If you were talking to a child, I'd just say "Don't trip over the bed" or "Be careful around the bed".

They call them platform beds, so I figured the part of the bed that is sticking out from beyond the mattress is called platform. Nobody heard of them?

I would have no idea what to call that bed. I've never seen one. It looks like someone took a perfectly good bed and sawed the legs off! ;-)

I'd call it 'wood'. "We've just bought this ridiculous bed. Make sure you don't hit your shins on the wood." Or "the jutting out bits".

Platform beds were briefly popular at one time. The thing on which their owners risked barking their shins was the platform.
