tooth of a jigsaw puzzle piece?

What would you call those parts of a jigsaw puzzle piece that are sticking out? Tooth? Like when you say I don't think you will be able to fix that puzzle piece anymore, three of its teeth have already been torn off. But you're free to try to fix it as I still keep those teeth right here on his box.
