Hi,

The first sentence of Yves Larock's song 'Rise Up' is this: My dream is to fly over the rainbow, so high!

I want to ask if we can say 'flying' instead of 'to fly.'

Thanks.

I know this song and the author's line is perfectly fine. Can you tell me why you want to use "flying" in the sentence? What makes you think it's a good option?

By the way, if you say "my dream is flying..." it means that your dream is doing that action. I mean what flies over the rainbow is your dream.

He could say I dream of flying over the rainbow, but to say My dream is flying would be illogical.
