Hi,

I'm new here, so apologies if this is revisiting an old topic. Have any of the teachers here had any interesting ideas for using authentic (English-language) board games in the ESL / EFL classroom?

I'd love to hear some ideas.

I used to play Scrabble with one of my adult learners (I didn't teach group classes) - he loved it! He was not far above a beginner so he started with 2- and 3-letter words (more if he spotted them) and moved on from there. I got him to give me the definition of each word he used and to try and give the definition of each word I played, and to use them in a sentence.

I agree about Scrabble. I used to play the Networdz version until Microsoft forced Windows 10 on to me. Many people are not happy.
