Hello,
I'm applying for a bachelor in Business Management program in Belgium. I would appreciate if someone could give me a hand with the motivation letter. I am certain that a lot of work still needs to be done. That's why I hope that you could assess the strengths and weaknesses in this letter.
More important, please do not hesitate to provide constructive criticism and list suggestions for improvement concerning content and grammatical or phrasal mistakes.
Thank you
Dear Sir or Madam,With this letter, I would like to express my strong interest in studying Business Management programme starting in September 2017 at the XXX University. I would like to introduce you some background information about my activity and then provide you with a clear statement of my purpose and intentions.
In 2015 I completed my first music album after working on it for three years. I could not wait for more to share it with the world and went in search of A&R managers and music labels to help me promote and publish it. After getting in contact with the major labels Warner Music and Sony Music and negotiating terms of release, they finally decided not to put this album out. Nevertheless, I was passionate about my work and I was determined to publish it. In true entrepreneurial fashion, I self-published my album through the digital platforms Spotify and Apple Music. I collaborated with a promotional expert to organise a month-long tour to promote the album. Finally, the album reached high positions on several music charts and received attention from the biggest names in the music industry. My personal self-taught development through the theory of music production took years of patience and dedication, data analysis, discrepancy identification, an open-minded approach to problem-solving, being concise when self-evaluating and taught me how to be adaptable and calm when under pressure to achieve results in the most time-efficient manner. I realised that creating a song has similar properties to creating a successful business venture. These skills would be highly transferable to a business environment.
Nonetheless, I was always looking for something more to expand my base knowledge in the world of media and entertainment business. Until I offered to be a part of a team of developing marketing department and to actively participate in business development, I did not recognise how valuable the “more” could be. I began combining my school work and my part time job as a Social Media and Content Manager in “XXX” Artist Management company. Through this experience, I learned the value of team working when all team members could all be the stakeholders rather than just presenting the strategy. I also learned how shared vision could hold your team together. This role had me implementing and carrying out projects, right from the initial brainstorm of what the young people would enjoy, to the evaluation, and development of further events. I had help organising youth club evenings, trips, arranging events, carrying out one to one meetings. My crowning glory came when I had the idea to get all of these areas to take part in an organising a music festival. I figured out how everything happens; initial research, outreach and communication, promotion, advertisement, project maintenance, execution, and evaluation. It was a tremendous effort to get everybody working together, but in the end, it was well worth it, and the festival was a complete success. As the project assistant, I was expected to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, be a motivational force, and inspirational teacher.
On a larger scale, Economics Elective Courses organised at High School has shown me the basic role economics plays in our lives. It explains how items are priced, how markets ebb and flow, how the laws of demand and supply determine so much of what we do and condition the environment around us. Economics also provides knowledge of how business developments work and their impacts which are likely to succeed and those that will almost certainly fail.
Although all of these have given me a satisfying life balance, sometimes I do so much that I do not take the time to stop and look around – to process what is happening, this was missing in my life. I know that the path I had been taking was the right one for me, I had just never actually felt ready to move on to the next phase. At this point, I thought about what I wanted for my future, not just career-wise, but to be happy and to contribute to the society.
I am pursuing a degree to become a better business strategist and strong general manager with a sense of initiative and enterprise. As a BBM graduate, my goal is to obtain a position of a Brand Manager in strategy and business development department at an international entertainment company. Long term, I intend to develop an ambitious company related to the creative field and specialises in Artist Management, Record Label, Event Management or Publishing Agency. My company’s goal will be to help talented upcoming artists and provide quality service for the customers.
Furthermore, I want to develop my leadership, presentation and social skills further as I will manage professionals on the creative and business side; it will be my task to unite team behind a shared strategic vision. Specifically, I would like to expand my knowledge in the human behaviour side. What makes people tick? What drives them forward? How to motivate teams and individuals to perform at their highest level and to become more adept at persuasion? Largest companies increasingly dominate the world in which we live, so what could be more captivating than studying the most influential collections of people on the planet? These dynamic organisations not only reflect but create the values of contemporary societies, shaping our beliefs and lifestyle choices. XXX's unique approach combining theory with practical case studies and hands-on work and involving a lot of group work as well as the individual approach will challenge me to grow in these areas and provide me with the critical professional experience.
Also, Intense contacts with business companies and internships arranged in BBM course will help me to discover what doing business in real companies is all about. I am intrigued to know more about the connections between different teams and being on the inside, seeing and hearing how the company behaves and thinks.
The programme covers a wide range of business topics, such as Marketing, Accounting, International Business, Distribution, Sales, Event Management and Communication. As a future business leader, I would like to become an expert in these fields, being capable of analysing and solving practical problems a company may face. I am confident that various traineeships and case assignments I will take part in during this course will help me to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and the ability to make tough decisions and provide criticism constructively.
In addition, XXX BBM course delivers international mindset environment. I believe that that the only way to be successful, competitive and productive in today’s business world is to develop it in a global context. I find XXX university the best place to learn how to communicate with people from different backgrounds to achieve the best results which will be the next crucial step in my development.
Last but certainly not least, studying abroad will significantly improve my English skills. Being an international language, English will help me to form new connections and widen my socialising skills to a global level. Moreover, additional Intensive courses of foreign languages will expand my international career potentials, make me more flexible and open to other cultures and develop my multitasking skills. Because of such a cultural diversity, I will have an opportunity to come across a variety of points of view and make thorough solutions.
Besides, I also feel that I have much to contribute to XXX community. My varied background in fields of media and business has given me a unique perspective that will be valuable in discussions and team projects. I will enrich the program by enabling fellow students and professors to benefit from my ambitious and open nature.
Nevertheless, I assume that studying abroad is going to be the most challenging step in my life so far. However, stepping out from a comfort zone will be a character building opportunity that will make me perspective broader in professional and personal ways. Besides, It will be an excellent opportunity to interact with the new culture.
In closing, I believe my background gives me the capacity for fearless and open-minded thinking that is needed to meet the challenges of the business industry’s shifting landscape. I am confident that XXX Bachelor of Business Management program will strengthen that foundation and help me to become the kind of dynamic leader who can bring the vision for a company to life and be at the forefront of business’s structural shift. I am confident that I will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to your program. I am sure to exceed your expectations, because of both my academic and interpersonal skills as well as the experience gained.
I appreciate your consideration and look forward to your positive response.
Yours faithfully,
Daniel XXX
