Should public transportation be free of cost? State your position with examples. (Persuasive essay for practice.)
Many developing countries have public transportation as a prime mean of reaching on time at their destination places for job everyday. These are not only overcrowded, but also sometimes unhygeinic and unsafe. In most countries, public transport is paid, but, cost is cheaper than private and personal vehicles. I believe public transit should not be free because It will not only burden the economy but also increase accidents.
Firstly, free public transits attract the crowd. In many developing countries, public transportations are already overcrowded; if transportations are provided at free of cost, certainly more people will use them. Free transport will not only increase the rush, but also accidents. Moreover, due to excessive crowd children will suffer the consequences of congestion and suffocation.
Furthermore, free public transits burden the economy. The government has to arrange more public vahicles and their conductors' and drivers' salaries. Consequently, those vehicles need stations and services centers which cost much money. So, People should pay for transport service.
Lastly, free public transportation offers more chances to invite and spread contagious diseases. Most public places in developing countries have hygiene issues which are the main cause of diseases. Therefore, government will responsible for free transportation
and diseases as well; later, which need more money to fight with those diseases.
In conclusion, free public transit will enhance people's problems and diseases rather than save their money. Transportation expenditures will burden the economy. Moreover, children will suffer from consequences of overcrowd. So, free transportation might give more negative results than positive.
